Rethink Your Routine

Updated: Feb 7

If you're over 40 and have been relying solely on cardio for your workouts, it might be time to rethink your routine.

While cardio is great for improving cardiovascular health and burning calories, it may not be the best workout for aging bodies. As we get older, our bodies naturally lose muscle mass, which can slow down metabolism and lead to weight gain. Cardio's alluring rhythm might have charmed us for years, but it's time to face the music. As we cross over the 40-year milestone, leaning on cardio alone may not be the wisest move.

Additionally, cardio can put a lot of stress on joints and muscles, which can lead to injuries and chronic pain. This is especially true for high-impact cardio activities like running or jumping, which can exacerbate existing joint issues.

Instead, try incorporating strength training into your routine. This can help build muscle mass, boost metabolism, and improve overall body composition. Strength training swoops in to save the day by building muscle mass, revving up your metabolism, and sculpting your body like an artist with a chisel. Plus, it's the superhero your joints have been silently praying for, stabilizing them and reducing the risk of injuries.

So, if you're over 40, don't be afraid to switch up your workout routine and prioritize strength training. Your body will thank you for it!
