Why I’m Doing Dry July (And Why You Might Want to Join Me)

I didn’t quit drinking because of some dramatic rock bottom moment. There was no big scene, no intervention, and no life-altering event that forced me to stop. The truth is a lot less exciting than that.

I was just tired.

Tired of waking up feeling groggy and anxious for no good reason.Tired of broken sleep and 2 AM wakeups with a racing heart.Tired of having one glass of wine that somehow turned into two, followed by a foggy, sluggish morning that left me regretting my choices before I even had my coffee.

So, one day, I decided to take a break. It wasn’t a huge, life-changing decision at the time. It was more of a quiet promise to myself: “Let’s just see how you feel after a month.”

That month turned into something bigger. My sleep improved. My skin cleared up. My puffiness was gone. My mood lifted in ways I didn’t expect. And most importantly, I started feeling more like myself again, someone I actually liked hanging out with.

Now, here we are at the start of July, and I’m here to help YOU!.

Dry July has become a chance to reset in the middle of the year. It’s a reminder that I don’t need alcohol to enjoy summer, to relax, or to celebrate.

If you’re thinking about joining in, whether it’s your first time or your tenth attempt, know this: You don’t need a dramatic reason to take a break. Feeling tired, curious, or just ready for something different is reason enough.

This month, I’ll be sharing what’s helped me, how to navigate the social stuff, and ways to make Dry July feel less like punishment and more like something you’re actually excited about.

If you’re in, stick around. There’s plenty more to come.
